I dashed from the car to the grocery store trying to avoid the rain that was coming down in sheets. Fat chance, I thought, and cursed aloud that my wife had forgotten to pick up the items she needed for her weekend away with the girls. I tried to look for the silver lining in this setup but could find none. Jane would leave tonight for her annual four day recharge with her college chums. Every year it was the same, leave on Thursday night, return on Sunday somewhat hung-over and subdued and never once, after all these years had she ever told me what they did. I shuffled down the aisle picking up the required items, adding a few extras for myself, taking time to check out the scenery of the secretaries and office females that were, by my reckoning, in too much of a rush.

"Jerry?"
