I surreptitiously wiped the tears from my eyes, determined not to give the grinning bastard opposite me the satisfaction of seeing me upset. Mike sat beside me, gently squeezing my hand while silently meeting his brother's smiling gaze.

"I really am sorry guys", repeated Ben, striving to sound sincere, "but Roxy freaked out at the idea of me donating sperm for the two of you. The uncomfortable silence lasted until Ben left our house moments later, Mike seeing him to the door while I remained curled up on the couch, the tears flowing freely the minute I heard him lock the front door.
