I wasn't really expecting much excitement when I headed to the doctor's office for my annual exam. These things have become so routine that I'm not even sure the point anymore. Go in, have the nurse take my blood pressure, pulse and temperature. Then I get weighed, and inevitably the doctor comes in tells me I'm overweight and then sends me on my way. I remember as a child the doctor checking more things, pushing and prodding, but none of that seems to go on anymore. I guess maybe as an adult they assume if you are having problems you'll say something.

I was a few minutes early for my appointment so I anticipated waiting awhile so I sat down to check email on my phone. No sooner did I sit down then the nurse came through the door and called my name. I looked around to see if someone else had the same name, but the room was filled with a bunch of women and no one seemed to be moving so I got up and headed toward the door.

"Hi, I'm Natalie" the nurse said politely. "Head down the hall here and we're in the room on the right with the door open." I didn't really pay much attention to Natalie, she had a nice smile, was about 5'3" and an average build. It's hard to tell much else when nurses are wearing scrubs as they are usually so baggy you can't tell what is under the fabric, and frankly I didn't much care.

Natalie didn't disappoint my low expectations as she took my blood ...
