Commencement day to remember

My name is Laura and I just graduated from a very exclusive, all-girl high school, although, it almost didn't happen. I had been a near straight A student all through school and was getting a little distracted towards the last month or so of school. I had already been accepted at a prestigious university and my parents had gotten me signed up for student housing and the whole bit. I guess I figured I was just going to breeze through the last few tests of the year and move on to college.

One of my professors gave a quiz one afternoon and I was shocked when he pulled me aside after class and showed me my score.

"Laura, I'm really disappointed in your quiz score here. You got eight wrong answers out of 25, that's a D-minus." Professor Anderson said. "You had better study up for the Final or I'm going to have to seriously look at reducing your grade in the class."

Truth was, me and my friends had been skipping a few days in the past weeks when the weather got nice. We all figured our grades were already set so why bother.
