When I was young each summer myself, and my brothers and sisters would go to the coast and stay with our uncle John & his wife Sue for a week or two. As our family did not have a lot of cash to spare this was our annual vacation.

The only change to this was as we all got older the five of us where obviously too much to deal with all together. So one week my two brothers would go to visit, the following week would be my two sisters and then finally it would be my turn. I'm not sure why I went alone, maybe it was because I was the eldest or perhaps it was because I was more of a handful.

The truth is I actually enjoyed the visits on my own better. It was nice to get away from my siblings for a while and I was always given more freedom by my uncle and aunt, they were no where near as strict as my parents.

Although over time my memories may have blurred a little they are still very fond ones. Uncle John owned a large beachfront house miles from the nearest town but they must have been popular as they always had lots of friends visiting, one friend in particular who always seemed to be there was Terry. In fact he was there so much I got to know him as Uncle Terry.
