Tina and Zoe were the unlikliest of friends. Both in their mid-thirties, they'd each grown up in small, rural towns south of Omaha: Zoe in Louisville and Tina in Weeping Water where their high school teams were arch rivals. They attended the University of Nebraska at the same time, although they could not recollect ever having met on that large campus. They both lived in the same Omaha suburb west of the city. And they both had thirteen-year-old sons on the same soccer team.

What made them such an odd couple in spite of their backgrounds was the fact that Tina gave the impression of being a very straitlaced woman, quiet and reserved. She had to be, her husband was a minister. And Zoe, who was a single mom, gave the impression that her moral compass was set a little differently from most people's. She wore provocative clothes, cursed like a sailor, and frequented pick-up bars in the city with her friend Holly. She and Holly also were suspected of hanky-panky with some of the husbands in their suburban community.

Well, this was one of those instances where looks were not deceiving. Tina was as conventionally straitlaced as a minister's wife should be. No drinking, no cursing and her wardrobe was modest in the extreme. A ...
