I looked up at the clock and it was 4:30 already. Where had the day gone? I seemed to have been so preoccupied with my thoughts that I had not paid much attention to time.

Earlier in the day I made a trip into town to the mall. I had some special shopping to do. George had invited me to meet him after work at our favorite bar. It is just a small cozy pub, not much atmosphere, but we loved to meet there a couple of times a week. We knew all the regulars. Sometimes we would shoot a game or two of pool as partners with another couple, or we would load the jukebox with our favorite oldies and tell each other jokes or reminisce about other times when we were there. Some pretty crazy nights and evenings had been spent in that bar.

George loved to flirt with the younger bartender that usually worked at night, and to be honest, I loved to watch him do so. I probably should have felt jealous, but I never did. He is a good looking man; charming and funny. His intelligence is displayed quietly but thoroughly. I found his varied interests kept him knowledgeable on so many topics and also, because he is an avid reader, he stays current on most political issues. Plain and simple, he has the whole package. When I fell in love with him, I jumped over the edge with no bungee cord.
