The jukebox was playing. Charlie Rich was singing: You're The Most Beautiful Woman in the World". She'd known him. Had every album he'd ever recorded. Meet him once, even shared a cigarette with him backstage. It was a long time ago. Ten years now. She'd been at the top of her career then; a Country and Western award nominee as songwriter of the year. But, it had been too many hazy days and nights with her brain soaked in alcohol since then. She now sang in rundown bars, usually drunk by the third set, and getting by.

She was between sets, sitting at a table with her boyfriend.

Eddie saying to her, "Lori you got to get yourself sober."

Ten o'clock in the evening and she was already wasted.

"I'm happier this way," giggling as she slurred her words and lit a cigarette.

"Honey I hate to see you like this. You got talent. You know that."
