This is my first story, hopefully there will be more.

My boss calls me over to her desk one day and tells me that she is sending me on a business trip to visit a new client. I am surprised but excited, because she tells me that the trip is to Boston, a city I have never spent a lot of time in. Also, I am excited because it is a great opportunity to make an impression on this new client. I'm happy that she has confidence in me. She proceeds to give me a high-level overview of the agenda for the meeting and then says "by the way, I am sending Matt with you". My stomach does a somersault. As she continues telling me about the client's expectations and what she wants me to cover, my mind races.

I hired Matt three years ago. He is a few years younger than me, but we instantly got along. He proved himself hard-working and reliable, and got promoted quickly. Although I now work for a different department and he no longer reports to me, we continue to remain close and talk about everything - no topic is off limits. While we are always professional, I admit to myself that there is certainly an attraction. I am not sure if he feels the same way. My mind drifts back to what my boss is saying, and I decide then and there that this trip will be an interesting one.

About an hour later I bump into Matt in the kitchen as I am grabbing water. He says "so I heard about Boston". I smile and say "yeah, I have ...
