Allison's Affair, Part Four

Al made it home that night thirty-five minutes after he left Allison's office. Music greeted him and he thought everything was alright. He walked down the hall and found the woman at the computer in the bedroom with her back to him. He came up behind her, bent down and gave her a peck on the cheek. And then all hell broke loose. Maybe if he'd seen the single tear rolling down the cheek opposite to the one he kissed, or the particular set of her lips, or the image on the screen before her, he might have had some warning, but he saw none of those things.

After he kissed her cheek Al stood, unaware that there was any problem until the woman's elbow slammed into his groin, crushing his balls and dropping him to his knees. He knelt there in disbelief, hands clutching his agonized crotch, unable to do more than croak as the woman stood and faced him with an expression that defied recognition. He could do nothing as she knitted her fingers together and then swung at his head like she was swinging at a hanging curve ball. His head whipped to the side when she made contact with his jaw. He fell to the side and onto his back. His ribs took a shot from her foot and then another. Nearly paralyzed in pain radiating throughout his body, all he could manage to do was curl into a fetal position and wrap his arms around his head to protect it from an errant kick.
