As I pulled to a stop in front of my house, I could not help but notice that the bedroom curtains were closed. Strange I thought, but maybe Clare was taking a rest. I was a lot earlier than usual as I had just called in to tell Clair that we would be entertaining visitors tonight.

Usually I would have rung her, but the battery on my mobile was flat. I had tried to use a phone box, but found it vandalized. Rather than search around for another one, I decided to call in myself.

I glanced at my watch. It was now four thirty and I had to pick up two Chinese clients from the airport at six. It would take me an hour to get there so I had to be away by five at the latest. It left me enough time to arrange things with Clair for tonight.
