Thanks to all the readers who commented, and asked for more about Dave and Marny after they got engaged at Christmas time. We join them a month after Marny has moved to Dave's home base on the Prairies - 18 hours to the East of Vancouver where Marny worked before.

A Sunday morning in February dawned clear and cold - the bright Prairie sun illuminated but did not warm. Outside it was -38 Celsius; in Dave and Marny's bed it was toasty warm. Her eyes fluttered open. The first thing she saw was Dave's calm face as he slept facing her. Marny lay still, watching him. He looked so peaceful and strong lying there. Marny felt a warm wave of love wash over her as she contemplated her life.

It had been a drastic change for her to move from Vancouver to the little Prairie town next to the Air Force training base. Born and raised on the West Coast, she had never lived anywhere so brutally cold, nor so small-town! Yet Marny was having the time of her life. She and Dave could be living anywhere in the world at the moment - all that mattered was they were together. Drifting lazily to wakefulness, she reflected on the other significant events of the past month.
