CHAPTER 12

Time passed and Maggie's successes mounted in scholarships and grants that she found for the university's graduating class. She decided it was time to make her move. She asked the dean to let her use his adjoining office. He demurred. He put off her request with a promise to think about it. The dean was actually quite afraid of Maggie. He was so easily aroused by her. Even his wife was beginning to notice that there was something different about him. In his case, he was chastened by the ease with which his wife's concerns could be diverted. He told her it was simply the pent-up pressures he felt from the demanding schedule he kept.
