It was very late. Coach Edwin Roberts was amazingly, still dawdling at his desk. He was surprised to notice a visitor waiting for him out in the darkened, cavernous, gym hallway. The coach didn't recognize his visitor at first. His gut reaction told him, with this visitor waiting, that it would be awhile yet before he could cut out for his lonely pad

From her silhouette, Edwin could tell it was a woman. Her conservative attire suggested it was one of the teachers of the school. Looked familiar, he thought. But it was awfully late for her to be a teacher. It was her conservative, almost maidenly, attire that hit him, as he recognized the face.

A smile crossed the older man's facial features. Suddenly he could remember those early, early days, when his daughter was quite young; still alive. She would run into his office and wait for him to lift her onto his lap. While searching his desk for whatever could be keeping him away from home for so long, she would ask, "What are you doing, Daddy?"

"Why don't you come in, Maggie," Edwin said to the young woman in shadow, as he pushed his chair back to stand. One of his hands pushed aside the papers on his desk. "It's so good to see you."
