Bob opened the door and glared at me with a dumfounded, "Who the hell are you and why are you at my door" look on his face. It took a few seconds for him to realize who I was but when he finally grasped the fact that his long time, online friend was actually standing in his doorway, a full faced grin mixed with mild shock replaced his almost aggressive, expression.

Bob and I met on ES over five years ago and had goaded each other with promises of one of us traveling to finally meet the other. I'm not sure he thought it would ever really happen but once I make a decision to do something, it usually gets done even though some things take more time than planned.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE!" he blurted out in a voice filled with mild exasperation and confusion.

"Ohhhh" I drawled. "I was just in the area and thought I'd stop by."

Of course, he well knew I wasn't just "in the area". Bob and Anne live over 900 miles from me, and given the remote area they are in, there is no way anyone would ever just be, "In the area".
