In retrospect, I was probably too young to be a high school teacher, but it was my dream so I didn't think I needed to waste time or grow mature enough for the position. I certainly knew I could do it and felt mature enough, but it didn't occur to me just how close in age I was to most of my students until the first day I walked into my classroom and saw all the blank faces staring up at me, wondering why I was walking toward the teacher's desk at the head of the room. They all thought I was just another student.

I had a masters degree in English Literature and minored in education as an undergraduate, but I was still only 23 and admittedly looked even younger. I was a precocious student and took college level courses during my junior year of college, so I managed to get my degrees in a fraction of the time it took most people. I don't mean to brag, I'm just explaining how I finished my Masters degree even before many of my friends got their bachelors degrees. I also don't mean to brag when I say that I look young, with a pretty, round face, a tight, fit body that I keep in perfect shape by doing pilates and yoga every day. Also, some people have told me that I dress like a slut, but I just think they're jealous of the fact that my style is current and fresh and fun. Well, ok... maybe I do kind of dress slutty sometimes, but I figure you're only young once so you may as well enjoy it while you can.
