Early the next morning, Gena awoke to the smell of fresh coffee and the smell of waffles cooking. Gena made a stop in the bathroom to pee, brush her teeth and then she found herself brushing out her hair. She was about to put some lip gloss on before she caught herself. She put it back on the sink counter and then turned to go to the kitchen.

"I thought I told you that you didn't have to cook breakfast." Gena said as she entered the kitchen.

"You did, I just wasn't listening to you when you said it." Lara said flashing Gena a smile as she turned to face her.

Gena tried not to smile back but she couldn't help herself. That brought forth a bigger smile from Lara. "So you found the waffle iron." Gena said as she took a sip of her coffee.

"Yea, I haven't had waffles in forever. Nana used to make them for me every morning and then let me put all the maple syrup on them that I wanted." Lara said as a sad smile came over her face. ...
