I could hear His boots as He was walking down the hallway. The heaviness of the steel toed boots and the bare linoleum hallway alerted me to His presence the moment He entered the building that i worked in. That and given the fact that it was a quiet Friday afternoon at my work, with nobody left in the office building, except me.

My breathing became more rapid as i heard Him get closer to my office. I strove to keep my breathing under control and my eyes on my computer screen as i heard His boots at my door. I didn't want Him to know that i cared that He was there. I didn't want Him to know how much not seeing Him each day hurt me. He was the one that had left. He was the one that had decided that it was too much for me to be in a relationship with Him, but He was the one who continued to return to my office door. If it was for nothing more than to stand in the doorway for a moment watching me and be gone out the exit door nearest to my office. That was the way that it went today, as well. After a few minutes, i heard Him move, the door open and close softly. I hesitated to look towards the door to see if He had actually gone. My heart sank as i realized that He had indeed left.

What i wouldn't give for Him to come into my office and shut the door like He used to. I left out a deep breath that i hadn't realized that i had been holding as i laid my head down on my desk and closed my eyes. Immediately, i was brought back to reality as my head was snatched back up by my hair. His strong hand pulling my head backwards ...
