I must acknowledge the following for their input, and advice. Obviously I could never have written this story without help, and research (Google) for one, plus grandparents and elderly folk who were still alive and have knowledge as to what it was like living in that era. Diane Shipton is a sweet innocent and then naïve 18 year old girl born and living in New Zealand, and the year is 1942...during the Second World War.

America has now entered the war after Pearl Harbour, and they quickly establish an army and navel base here in order to assemble troops before sending them off to war in the south pacific.

Naturally they bring with them and introduce to the down under New Zealander some American culture.

With most of the able bodied NZ males away overseas the sight of these handsome, smooth dashing and very confident "Yanks" has the local girls ...
