It was my senior year at UGA and we were going to New Orleans to see the Dawgs play in the Sugar Bowl. Chip & Nikki, Vic & Barbi, Psycho & Arlene, Mary Beth and I took the train from Atlanta to New Orleans, about a 12 hour trip and then we took a taxi to the Marriott in New Orleans. We got drunk & rowdy on the train and were asked to keep the noise down. It was late when we arrived and we just went to our rooms and crashed. Thank goodness we had splurged and each couple had a room to ourselves. We had arrived in time to have one entire day and New Year's Eve to explore the New Orleans French Quarter and Bourbon Street before game day.

We got started mid-morning and after a big breakfast we were all out checking out New Orleans, Jackson Square, etc. New Orleans was full of UGA students and alumni who'd come to town for the Sugar Bowl. We even ran into several folks who had made the trip from Hawaii to support our opponent and we went out of our way to say hello to them.

By that afternoon we had all purchased souvenir t-shirts and had a few beers. We had passed by several tattoo parlors during the day but by this time we were just drunk enough to really check one out. I decided to get a Georgia G tattoo on my left leg just above my ankle. That set off the whole gang. We spent the rest of the afternoon getting tattoos. Mary Beth, who only had a lower back tattoo, got a lilly flower tattooed on her left ankle.
