I Needed The Money

I drove home from my teacher's aide job, wondering what bills would be waiting in the mailbox today. I needed to make some money, very quickly, because my bills were piling up, and I was having trouble finding another job. I don't know how it got to this, but I needed some quick cash.

I arrived home to find a handful of bills sitting in the mailbox. I had no idea how I would be able to pay any of these on my measly salary. I laid in bed and drifted off to sleep. After a few hours of sleeping, I woke up and got my things ready for work the next day.

The next morning, I was preparing the classroom for the kids when the teacher came in. He was about ten years older than me, and pretty much instructed me what to do. I greeted him and continued to set up the desks when he walked over and asked me if everything was okay. I looked up and asked him what he meant, and he said that he could tell that something was bothering me. I guess it showed on my face.

I told him that I was having financial problems and needed to make some extra money. He nodded his head, saying that he had been there before. He invited me down to the teachers lounge for a cup of coffee so we could sit and chat. I accepted and we walked down the hall.
