The day had just turned to night, and a warm rain was falling as I walked towards my club. I walked slowly enjoying every drop, which struck my face, and relishing the musty smell, which fills the air outside. As I looked down the street I could see the steam rising from the pavement and sidewalks, creating the mist for me to walk through.

I had been away for a while working on a large construction project out west and was glad to be back to familiar surroundings. I was wearing a pear of faded jeans, a white v-neck shirt and work boots. Comfort and relaxation at its finest. I needed to work my muscles in a more rigorous and structured manner. In a manner only accomplished at a gym or through martial arts.

When I arrived the people were all leaving and the gym was being closed down for the night, as usual. The manager tossed me the keys and said, "Leave them in the usual spot when you are done." I nodded patted him on the back and made my way towards the locker room. Working out after hours is when I have my best workouts. I wear only my shorts and shoes, nothing else. I can see every muscle moving in the mirrors and this helps me push myself beyond my normal routines. People are not there asking me questions, or standing against the wall staring at what I am doing. It is just me against my own self-limitations, and for the most part I don't impose any upon myself.

I left the locker room and followed the stairs down to the free weight ...
