Bill and Beth had known each other since they were very small children. They went to kindergarten together and were more often than not in the same classes right through to the time they finished high school. Both of their upbringings had been fairly strict, enforced by religious parents, and as a result they grew up sheltered and, for the most part, quite unaware of the real world around them. They, of course, had heard their classmates' conversations and the words they frequently used to spice up their language, but not a single four-letter word of an earthy nature had ever crossed either of their lips, and certainly any mention of sex, whether in a jovial manner or as part of a serious discussion, was totally out of the question.
