I had just gotten out of the service when I met her. She was friends with a friend of my cousin's and she was hosting a 4th of July party. I didn't really want to go, but my cousin convinced me, telling me that the people at the party were all friends of his, and that I needed to meet some new people. I was new in town and so I agreed.

When we got to this huge house, I saw a bunch of cars lined up the street and on the long driveway. Looked like the party was in full swing. I grabbed my cooler that was full of beer and walked into the house behind my cousin.

I recognized a few people. My cousin's friend Matt was grilling burgers and waved to us.

"About time you got here."

My cousin laughed and looked around.

Matt gestured towards the backyard.

"I think she is out there."
