It was early one Friday morning, as I sat at my desk taking care of a few things, when one of my coworkers came up to me and asked me what I was doing that evening. I told her I really didn't have any plans and asked her what was up. She told me that it was one of our co-workers birthdays and she really wanted to take him out to celebrate. She was a bit shy and didn't know how to ask him and was wondering if I might come along with her. I asked her what she had in mind and she said she probably wanted to go to a local bar and have a drink and celebrate his birthday because people usually didn't do very much for him. I said it sounded like a pretty cool idea and got up and walked over with her to his desk.

He was in the middle of doing some paperwork and looked up at us surprised to see two women standing in front of his desk. He asked us what's up and we told him that we heard it was his birthday and that we wanted to take him out for a couple of drinks. He was pleasantly surprised and thanked us over and over again. He said nobody ever remembers his birthday and was so delighted that we had. He even suggested that if we were interested we could go over to his place afterwards to do some swimming in his pool. We looked at each other and said what the hell why not. We finalized our plans with each other and said we would meet up at the bar later that evening.
