It was a brisk spring morning in a London suburb. Birds were singing and the sun shone high in a near clear-blue sky. Come 9am, Bob, who worked from home as a freelance accountant, was being woken up as usual, both by his alarm clock going off, and by Ruffles, his German shepherd dog, pawing on his bedroom door.

"Okay, boy, just let me get my robe on," Bob called out, having turned the alarm off, and sat up in his spacious double bed. Swinging his legs over the side, Bob found his slippers and put them on before standing up. After lumbering over to the wardrobe, he took the satin robe of its hanger and put it on. Opening the bedroom door, Ruffles then bounced in. "Okay, then, boy, let's get breakfast and I'll take you to the park for some exercise," Bob informed him.

Meanwhile, and not too far away, Mitzzy, a stone white poodle, is waiting for Veronica, her mistress, to rise out of bed. "Ahmn," she yawned - Veronica, not Mitzzy - as she extended and stretched both her arms.
