They soon fell into a routine, a routine which would not make anyone guess that something was amiss, especially to the firm. The people at the firm seemed nervous as per Jill. And some of them had stopped by at her cabin and talked to her about her last meeting with Joe, after all she was the last member of the firm with whom he had spoken to before he had met his tragic end later in the evening. It was as though everyone was walking on eggshells, waiting for something to happen. By now Jill had begun returning home earlier than before. She told everyone at the office that she was stressed out with all that had happened and needed the comfort of her home and husband to recharge her. Yes, they would say, they understood how she felt. After all they too were feeling down and out.

A week had gone by and they still didn't have anything to turn over to Terrance. The files Jill was working on all seemed to be legal. Steve decided that they would have to get aggressive. He asked Jill to invite Stella over for a get together with them on a weekend. Jill agreed and brought up the subject with Stella the next day. Surprisingly she agreed without hesitation.
