The Assassin

Kennis McMillan met a couple of friends after work at McGillycuddy's pub. She had a basket of their famous fish and chips along with four mugs of Guinness. She was full and exhausted. She was looking forward to a glass of fruity chardonnay and a long warm bubble bath. Her friends were fun but they could be exhausting. She longed for some peace and quiet.

She entered the elevator in the parking structure across from McGillycuddy's with her hand on a can of pepper spray kept in her purse. She hung onto it as she rode the elevator to the fifth floor. Between the fourth and fifth floors, before the elevator doors opened, she took her car keys out of her purse. Still keeping the pepper spray in her hand, she exited the elevator and opened the door to the parking lot.

There were still quite a few cars in the parking structure at 10:00 p.m. Patrons of a number of bars, a few restaurants and a nearby theatre parked in the structure as well as employees in the adjacent office building. She could hear the traffic on the street down below but the parking structure itself was eerily quiet.

She was walking towards her 2006 BMW 330Ci convertible the remote opener held out in her hand when she saw one of the attorneys from the firm ...
