Bar Games

It was supposed to be the weekend that rekindled our fire. In the end, it looks like it may have been the weekend that killed our relationship.

A lot of you have probably experienced similar periods in your lives, although not necessarily with the same outcome. Debbie and I are in our late 30s, we've been married for 11 years and, although we didn't go for kids initially, are now the proud parents of a five year old girl and a 3 year old boy. However, young kids, combined with long, busy days for both of us at work mean we struggle to find any real quality time for ourselves and, to be honest, the passion left shortly after Debbie got pregnant with our second.

We both acknowledged that we needed to do something to try to put a bit of spark into the bedroom department, so I arranged for my parents to look after the kids for a weekend and booked a lovely little boutique hotel in Bath.

I guess we should have known things wouldn't go to plan when we were delayed getting to the hotel on the Friday night. The kids were picked up by my parents from school, but sod's law kicked in to mean that both Debbie and I had to work later than we'd hoped, me to clear up a mess that a junior colleague had created with a client, Deb to hit a late ...
