Chapter 4: The Loading Dock

I decided to go to the loading dock around the time I knew their shift ended. We didn't have enough business to work 3-shifts through the night so around 5pm the last truck would pull out and the workers would leave.

"Hey, what are you doing here Morag?" one of the guys shouted as I walked in. I knew he was Larry, since Anna had pointed him out to me a couple of days earlier. Since I was from head-office and had been around for a couple of weeks now, word of my presence seemed to have spread. Plus, if I were suspicious of Larry, if he was smart he'd be at least a little wary of me.

"Came to see this part of the place. Can't leave anything out."

"But this is man's work. Women aren't strong enough to make it here."

I laughed. "All you do is drive fork-lifts around all day. Doesn't take any strength. I could do it just as well as you."

"Going to come to the bar with us then...see if you can keep up with us. We're off for a few games of pool."
