A couple of months ago I was sitting at my desk staring blankly at the computer screen while trying to get some work done. I was drained and couldn't wait for the day to end so that I could head home and go straight to bed. I had been working continuously for almost 3 straight years without taking any vacation time because there wasn't anyone qualified enough at my job to cover for me. I could've taken a vacation if I wanted to, but being that my manager treated me nicely and took good care of me in my paycheck, I didn't want to leave him hanging. He had started this company a few years back and I was doing everything possible to help him build it so that one day it would be a big corporation. It was very difficult for me because I really could've used some time off in order to recharge my batteries. I had been good about it but wasn't sure how much longer I could continue working like this. I made decent money and was very happy doing so, but after a while everyone could use a break. I hope that sooner or later they would get someone in that could do the same work that I did so that I could take some time off. I had mentioned to him a few times that I was getting burnt out and he told me that he understood. He told me that he would see what he could do about getting me some time off. That was almost 3 weeks ago and here I was still working. That all changed one Tuesday afternoon as I sat at my desk doing some work.
