Fun with the Office Staff By Paul

Two years ago, when I was 33, I was offered a medical discharge from the Army. Not because I didn’t go along with the ‘Don’t ask Don’t tell’ stuff, I had developed a degenerative disc disease, which made me unable to participate in any type of Army training. I was a clerk with an ability to type and keep records and general office duties. I worked for the Adjutant General’s office, which meant that I learned all about the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Our office handled the legal aspects of the Army, such as drawing up charges for actions against personnel that went AWOL and minor, and some major crimes.

So here I was, retired at such an early age with a disability a check which could have supported me for the rest of my life. I took advantage of the military and got some college credits in law and started job hunting in the downtown section of Baltimore where most of the major legal firms and financial district are located. I also found a miracle worker of an neurological surgeon who replaced two ruptured discs that made me able to work again. I mailed, faxed and hand delivered many copies of my resume before I finally was given an appointment for an interview with the newly begun law firm of Samson and Arnold.
