The only sounds to be heard came from the occasional rustle of the lush greenery of the palm fronds waving before the zephyrs of warm air flowing on the faint sea breeze and from the murmur of the small waves lapping gently against the sandy shore.

Becky was lying on the sand taking shelter from the hot tropical sun in the shadow of a parasol. The clear blue canopy of the cloudless sky stretched above her and far out to the distant horizon where the sparkling surface of the Caribbean Sea, broken only by the occasional triangular shape of a white sail, merged with the heavens in an indistinct and hazy line. The small bay, sheltered by a reef of low coral that showed itself only briefly when the tide was at its lowest ebb, formed a crescent bound by a fringe of high palm trees whose trunks seemed to arch and bow in graceful curving lines over the golden sand. Their rich colour in varied tones of green and ochre formed a frame to the picture perfect and almost deserted beach. ...
