A Bobby Adams Story Part 5 - A Sizzling Time in Miami

Bobby Adams was running about a half hour late on her way to the airport. She was scheduled to meet Luis Herrero in Miami about a job tonight and it was just her luck that a damn snowstorm hit northern Wisconsin the night before her flight. She got through the worst of it but had another seventy-five miles to go to get to the airport.

Her Jeep Wrangler blew through the powdery drifts. For the past one hundred miles, she felt like the last human being on Earth. No one seemed to be awake. Houses were closed up tight and blanketed with snow. There were no tire tracks in the snow and if it weren't for the posts long the side of the road, she would probably have gone off road without knowing it. There weren't even any animals moving about on such a frigid, snowy morn.

She liked it. She liked the solitude. She liked the quiet. People tended to get on her nerves after a while so, despite the banks of light snow and a few icy patches, she found the long drive from her cabin in the north woods to the big city airport restful.

After another fifteen miles, she got behind a giant snowplow. The driver was going full tilt and snow was flying up in twenty-foot plumes. She winced when she saw the carcass of a doe fly up in the air along with the fluffy snow and land about thirty feet from the road. ...
