What with Steve being at the end of his teens, his parents had chosen to holiday by themselves, thereby sparing him any unnecessary embarrassment. While they were away, he was, however, minded to behave himself, his mom even arranging with Mrs Johnson, Steve's best friend's mother, for him to go to her house for tea a couple of times, especially since she had heard glowing praise about Victoria's lamb casserole.
