As you may recall (hopefully you've even read the 2nd CC story), Veronica's husband hired some workmen to decorate their home. Because of their lackadaisical attitude, she regarded them as being quite arrogant. I, on the other hand, found them to be quite the opposite; ‘unpretentious', being the word I chose from Word's thesaurus, to best sum them up and for this story's title.

I wasted little time in informing them that, I had my husband hire them, as such, having heard of their work from Veronica, adding a coy, yet knowing smile, when I mentioned her name.

"I see, Mrs Roberts," began Mike, while emitting a confident smile.

"I'd prefer it if you called me Rachel," I said, before allowing him to continue.

"I take it you liked our workmanship, then," intimated Tony, on behalf of his co-worker, adding a cheeky grin.

"let's just say that, provided you finish the work satisfactorily, and on or before time each day, then there could be a bonus for you; the lounge taking two days as I recall Veronica mentioning," I said, and left them to get on with that while mulling my words.
