Several months ago I tried my hand at working in the corporate world. I landed a job working in an office as an assistant and pretty much started on the lowest level possible. I was just happy enough to have a job and be able to make some money because we had just had a baby and my husband couldn't support us all on his own. I knew I had to do my best in order to work my way up but that would take time. I did my best to be friendly with everyone and immediately noticed that all of my coworkers were just as friendly if not friendlier. It was a very nice atmosphere to work in since everyone got along so well. At times I found it kind of odd just how friendly some people were. As time went by and I got to know everyone, I started getting invited out on the weekends to unwind. A couple of coworkers told me about these big get-togethers that they would have every now and then and suggested I come hang out sometime. At first I declined because I wasn't much of a socialite. Over time, I began hearing some stories about these get-togethers but didn't know whether to believe them or not. The things I was hearing around the office were pretty wild and I didn't think they were true because my coworkers didn't seem like those type of people. I heard all kinds of stories from people getting drunk, to getting high to even fooling around with one another. Since it was usually the male coworkers who talked about it, I didn't really believe it. Besides that, work was pretty basic as I spent most of the day sitting at the computer filing paperwork.
