I had been going to Houston, TX, for work or conferences 2 or 3 times per year since 1980 and during one trip in mid-1980, I discovered the magical bars along Telephone Road. It was late at night and I was westbound on the I-610 South Loop trying to find my way back to my hotel on Westheimer Blvd without much luck. I took the Telephone Road exit, turned right and decided to stop at the first bar I found to ask for directions and a cold beer. Just past Stubbs Harley Davidson I saw a line of a half dozen bars with names like "The Happy Go Lucky Club", "The Lucky Cat Club", "The Kitty Club", etc. I was detecting a theme here and hoped all the references to "Lucky" in the club's names meant I might get lucky. I pulled into the Happy Go Lucky Club parking lot, noting as I did so, several security cameras mounted along the edge of the roof aimed at the parking lot from different angles. Apparently they took security seriously and would have early warning if it looked like trouble was developing outside.

I got out of my car, locked it and walked through the doorway into the club. Except for four Asian ladies I appeared to be the only customer in the club. I walked in and took a seat at the bar and on the television screen behind the bar I could see my car clearly from several different angles. "Hi Honey, what's your name?" the sexy looking bar tender asked me. She was maybe 30 years old, five and a half feet tall, shoulder length straight dark hair with medium sized breasts.
