I just had a fight of major proportions with my wife. I had to get away. So I drove off. At first I had no idea where I was going. It did not matter anyway. I just needed to be gone for a while. Soon I realized that I was headed up over the mountain pass and I felt inspired. A get away up where the air is cold and clear, to the smell of the tall pines, that sounded great! I still did not know where I was going to spend the night, but that still did not matter.

I don't know what happened next. When I awoke it was dark and I was freezing. Slowly I realized that I must have dozed off or something because I had run off the road and into a deep ditch filled with brush. My head hurt and I could not remember how I got her. My car was stuck, cold and dead. The air bag had both deployed, probably saving my neck, and had fallen limp already. Looking up to my left I could just barely make out a line that I presumed was the edge of the road. I couldn't move for quite some time, and in that time I never saw any lights from a passing car. It must be very late I thought.

Finally I forced myself to move, unbuckling my seat belt. My door would not open, and the electric windows would not budge. I leaned far to my right and raised my legs up to kick on the window. Man they sure were tough! Just when I thought it would never break I heard the first crack. I kicked and kicked and kicked until I was exhausted. I did not want to leave any sharp edges when I crawled through, but I guess that was a lost cause. ...
