In what is a by and large male dominated industry, I'm one of a small group of female movie directors.

Don't, however, expect to see my name at the end of the opening credits of a Hollywood or British produced film, and even then, not my real name. I shoot porn for a living. Yep, all that hot and nasty stuff that your Michael Douglas's and Sharon Stone's (remember ‘Basic Instinct', I mean, wow!) pretend to do. We call that softcore. I, along with my fellow director's, on the other hand, shoot the real hardcore stuff.

I mostly work freelance, and even though I do, I nonetheless get quite a lot of work. Ray, a producer I've worked for, credits my professionalism. By that, he doesn't mean that I refrain from getting involved with the steamy sex, which I do, but, that, unlike those directors who cut corners by using just a video camera with a stick microphone, my work is top notch. That's because I have a boom with me; someone who holds a long pole with a microphone at the end. That way, whether I'm stood back taking a wide angle shot or close up where all the hot steamy action is, you can hear what the talent are saying. I believe it was Kate Bush who first used a cordless mike for a stage performance, something that makes my job very easy indeed.
