"Feel that heat," exclaimed Susan, as she, followed by myself, then Heather, Tiffany and Kaye, stepped from the plane and onto the platform atop the disembarkation stairs.

"It most certainly beats the British weather," intoned Tiffany - when we left, and even though it was late July, it was teaming it down in London.

As a group, and even though we've been close friends for some several years, this was our first collective holiday.

We got to know one another when we worked as temps at the same firm. There, we filled in for staff who were on their summer holiday breaks. Ordinarily, as temps, we'd fill in at a moments notice; someone being out sick or an increased workload, usually brought about by acquiring a new contract and the like.

I now work full-time with Kaye Roberts at a distinct firm, while Tiffany Adams and Susan Jones each work for a different company, and all within what is known as ‘the Square mile'; the city of London, around the Bank of England.

When we can, since we're not high enough up in our respective company's to take our lunch breaks when we want, we'll meet up, and generally talk about the goings on at our office's. ...
