About three months ago a close friend of mine told me that she needed to go in for surgery on both of her knees. It was going to be a major surgery, which would put her out of commission for quite a while. After the surgery, she was going to be at a rehabilitation center for at least a month and a half if not more. She was worried because her husband was going to be alone with their two kids and she knew that it would be tough on him. She asked me if I wouldn't mind stopping by and helping him out once in a while. I told her not to worry, that I would do what I could and make sure that they were okay. I told her that everything would be fine and that she should just focus on her surgery and not worry about anything else. Shortly after that conversation, the day of her surgery arrived and she was off to the hospital. It was a long surgery, but thankfully everything went well. I stopped in to see her and after talking to her for a while, I went on my way.

Over the next couple of days, I would stop in and see her and then go by her house on my way home. Her husband Joey was happy to see me and could definitely use the help. I did my best to help him with the kids as well as daily household chores before heading home to tend to my own family. It wasn't easy, but I did my best to be helpful. I would stop by almost daily, on my way home and help with what I could in order to make things a bit easier.
