Chapter 6: The Move

Tallia Papadopoulos inwardly cringed as she entered her parents' restaurant. The family was gathering for a bon voyage party for her move to Lac Noir. Her only solace was Sarah would be there as a buffer between her and her parents' disapproval over her move.

Holly, the cute and friendly hostess, told her most of the family was already in the back room. Tallia walked slowly towards the back dining room, smiling at regular customers. She was remembering the disappointment in her landlady's voice when she gave her the notice to move. Her lease was up on January 1st and she expected to pay the rent through then even though she was going to start moving to Lac Noir by mid-November. But even her landlady offered to knock off part of the rent if she could rent the cottage out before her lease was up. Her parents weren't being quite as understandable.

As she entered the back private dining room, everyone except her brother Marco and his family and Sarah were there. Her family quickly surrounded her and said how much they were going to miss her as if she were moving to the other end of the world rather than two hours away. They would probably see her as often as they did now.

She looked at a table set aside with boxes of gifts. They were all housewarming gifts and she was curious to know if her family even knew ...
