I was sitting at my desk one afternoon when my boss approached me and told me that he needed to speak to me. I got up and followed him to his office, not completely sure what he needed to talk to me about. Once in his office, he had me take a seat and began telling me about an upcoming event that I would be attending on behalf of the company. You see, every few months, my company would hold an auction where many large corporations from around the country would send people from their companies to attend and hopefully bid on products that we were offering. We hoped to raise certain amounts of money with a portion of it going to charity. Some of the companies would even go as far as doing business with us afterward. I hadn't actually directed any of these auctions before, but it looked like it was going to be my turn. He gave me all the details and told me what I would have to do. We discussed the event for a while and he even put out a few ballpark figures that he wanted me to achieve during this auction. I was a bit nervous because I had never run an auction before but he reassured me that everything would go well and I would even have some help. I told him that I would do my best and looked forward to helping out the company as best I could.

Two weeks later, I found myself checking in to my room at a elegant hotel. The auction would be held in the hotels reception area and because I would be mingling with clients and most likely having a few cocktails, it was probably a good idea to avoid driving.
