I've been a freelance photographer for more than thirty years. While I make a decent living shooting sporting events, weddings, and community events, I also do pretty well in the portrait studio. My specialty is children, but I also photograph families, and, if they ask, their pets as well.

You can imagine, I'm sure, at the number of requests I also receive from my family to take their family portraits as well. Lately, I've become even less reluctant to photography anyone in my family other than my wife and children because they seem to expect me to do their family portraits, kids birthdays parties, baptisms, or anything else that is important to them. Yet, they never offer to pay for my services, either. I mean, I don't need them to pay my normal fees, but they don't even offer a single dime in payment. I complain about the situation to my wife, but she just tells me I need to just take it all in stride, do the photo sessions, and forget about being paid.

The biggest offender is my brother-in-law. He's a braggart and refuses to admit that he's ever wrong. Too many times, he's invited me to come along with him on some type of outing only for me to find that what he really wants is for me to bring my cameras and take photos of him having fun. The last time he invited me to do something with him, for example, was the last straw, and I swore I'd get revenge on him. You see, he invited me to go hunting with him.
