Story outline: Returning to Robert's apartment after a romantic meal, Valerie, when he showed her to his bedroom, enquired of the black velvet cube that was set back from his double bed.

"That was a quite enjoyable meal, Robert," Valerie thanked him, having finished desert.

"Coffee, then," he suggested, to finish with.

"I'm more of a tea person myself, but don't let that stop you," she intoned, pleasantly.

Calling the waiter over, Robert instead asked him for the bill, which he subsequently paid for with his American Express card while adding a substantial tip.

Several minutes later, they were in the cab that Robert had called, a quite reliable service, indeed, Valerie had noticed. With her head leant against his shoulder, the cab transported them to Robert's abode, a luxury apartment on the north side.
