Story outline: Having moved to a new state and with it a new community, Ruth Prendegast was having a quite crappy day; that was until a friendly neighbour, Malcolm Rodgers, paid her a visit with a welcome house warming gift.

"Here you go, mom," exclaimed my 16-year-old daughter, Jamie, as she handed me a morning mug of coffee.

"You sound sprightly, young lady," I replied, before thanking her.

"I'm off, out, see what this new place has to offer," Jamie trilled.

"Just don't go getting into trouble, just yet," I intoned, before taking a refreshing sip and considering breakfast.

Several minutes later, and with my nylon robe wrapped around my shapely 38 years young body, I found myself in the garage, looking through unpacked boxes for a juicer. ‘Oh crap, now where did I put it,' I thought aloud.

Deciding on a fried breakfast instead, I soon found the frying pans, only for the gas stove not to light. ‘Shit! Doesn't anything in this place work,' I mildly fumed.
