Susie and I didn't have a night off at the same time for another week. I picked her up and we went to the park, stopping along the way to get dinner to go. Just by luck, we ordered Black Forest ham, with even the same toppings, except that she had honey mustard and I had brown mustard. As soon as we were out the door, I told her, "I'm planning on tasting your honey."

Susie gave me a look like she wanted to say something but didn't. We got to the picnic table and started eating. Some of the honey mustard dribbled off her sandwich and onto her fingers. I took her finger and licked the mustard off. "That's the only honey you'll be eating tonight," she told me.

"Did I do something wrong?" I asked.

"No, you just didn't do something right. Lemme put this another way. If you wanted to eat my honey, I wouldn't stop you, but you probably don't want to eat it this week." She gave me a moment to understand what she meant. "So, how do you feel? Disappointed? Relieved?"

"Disappointed that you won't have a baby bump in time for graduation," I said. "There's always next month."

Susie smiled. "I was thinking that, too!" she squealed.
