It had been exactly a year since my wife Karen died of ovarian cancer. After she died, I simply wrapped myself in a cocoon of work. I am a CPA by trade. Marc Davis is my name. I live in Dacula, GA and I have a medium-sized practice, offering services to corporations and individuals for accounting. I am a Catholic by faith and am an avid runner, swimmer, and cyclist, keeping in tip top shape. I am 41 years old and I stand 6'2" and weigh 195 pounds. Since Karen died I've let myself slip a bit, falling into a pity party and staying there. It's no fun being alone.

My friends all said that I should take a 7-day 6-night cruise. I agreed that a change of scenery might be helpful. So, my neighbors and I went online to Carnival and booked a cruise out of Port Canaveral on the Magic. We made parking arrangements at a lot where I'd be shuttled to the ship. My suitcase would be handled for a few bucks. So, the time came and I drove down a day early to find it, get a night's rest, and get my mind set to enjoy a week away.
