It had been about two weeks since my wife had finished her babysitting at the house. With all that happened, she was in no rush to go back and collect her cheque from Paige and Chris' mom, but when finally Karen called to ask her to come by to get the money she was nervous. Somewhat reluctantly, on the following Saturday, it was agreed that we would swing by to collect. We had been on a patio enjoying a warm fall day when my wife got the text message from Karen. "Just getting home, can you come by in an hour?" it said.

My wife looked at me. "Well here goes nothing."

"Sure, see you then she replied." She looked me and then took a big sip of her margherita. "I'm sure it'll be fine." she told me trying to convince herself.

We finished our food and drinks and paid the bill, then hopped in the car for the 20 minute ride. I think my wife was a tad tipsy after two lunch margheritas as she lip-sync'd along to a song on the radio. When we finally arrived, I asked her if I should wait in the car. "Sure, but keep the engine running she joked." She pulled out her phone and sent a text to Karen. "Just pulling up. See you in a minute."

"Just got out of the shower. Come in and I'll be down in a minute. Make yourself comfortable."
